You know what I hate about the new year? That it’s new. All this new year, new you mumbo jumbo makes me cringe. How about if instead of focusing on the new in 2016, we can search out timeless things and moments in our lives. Instead of setting ridiculous goals to be the best in shape, the best dressed, the best at work, can we focus on timeless moments with our loved ones and even timeless pieces in our closets. Instead of buying a New Year’s Eve dress how about doing a dress swap with your girlfriends or bringing out a fun item from your wardrobe and making it new by styling it differently than you have before. Take risks, do something different, but keep timeless items the focus this new year.
This coat I’m wearing in the photos isn’t new, it’s still in style but I got it a few years ago. I absolutely love it! Try a vintage cashmere sweater or a leather bomber jacket you’ve had for years. Pair these items with faux leather leggings or a wine pencil skirt for a new year twist. The new year isn’t just about new items in your closet, it’s about making timeless items current. Remember “Fashion is a trend, style lives within a person” – Oscar de la Renta.
Xoxo,
Shanell
